Burning Mouth Syndrome

Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) Tongue on fire? Well if you haven’t eaten a ghost pepper in the last five, you may be experiencing a medical condition called BMS. Typically defined as a burning itching or numb feeling on your tongue, lips or roof of the mouth, BMS can last for days to months and doctors and dentists don’t actually have specific tests for it.

What we CAN tell you is that BMS is associated with:

• dry mouth

• vitamin deficiencies like B12

• acid reflux • hormonal changes (ass. with diabetes or thyroid)

• infections in the mouth (yeast)

• certain medications like those that reduce blood pressure.

And don’t forget allergies! Allergies to specific foods 🍑 that you eat on a daily basis can also cause it!

If you’re experiencing symptoms of BMS look into some of the causes I listed and see if you can get to the bottom of it!
